This is so cool! American Expendables is now an award winning film thanks to the music of Tim Kulig. In addition I was working with the folks at Weekend of Fear to get the deliverables for the German premiere of the film in June! At the end of the day, it’s a lot of fun to enter your film in festivals. (Weekend of Fear is considered to be one of the most important genre film festivals according to filmfestivals.com). Some festival are even free to enter like Weekend of Fear but even if you do have to put up a little money to give your film a chance to screen at certain festivals. At least you are betting on yourself…and that’s a cool thing to do every now and then.
Sometimes you need to manufacture your own buzz, market and promote yourself. I can’t afford a publicist and it certainly isn’t any more noble to pay someone to do your PR. That being said, getting into a film festival is great in itself, but you can also promote the fact that your film is playing somewhere and this is way to multiply the visibility of your film. It’s not just about the festival, it’s about having something to talk about in regard to your film! More news to come!
